Trade Guide

A semi-comprehensive guidebook for trading in Hello Kitty Dream Village. Owned, managed, and created by the HKDV Neighborhood Discord Server.

In this section, we will go over the basic principles of trading in Hello Kitty Dream Village.The first thing to understand before going into any trade is that no matter how fair the trade is on paper, many values are up to individual interpretation. It can be the perfect trade according to community trade rules, but if it's not worth it to the other player, then it may be declined.With this in mind, let us begin.

Wishlist BasicsIn order to do an exchange (explained in Types of Trades) you will first add items to your wishlist. To do this, you can visit Social > Exchange Item > Pick Items, find the item you want, and click the ♥ button. You can also add items if you see them on another player's avatar or in their room. Click on their avatar, open their profile with the bubble above their head, and click the small hanger icon near the top of their profile. Here you can see everything they have equipped on their avatar and in their room, and you can click the ❤️ button on items you like.Once you've added items to your wishlist, if you and another player both have duplicate items from each other's wishlists, a special exchange bubble will appear over their head and you'll be able to see which items they have from your wishlist.

Letters and ChairsYou will frequently see players with basic items like letters or chairs on their wishlist. They do not actually want these items in a trade. They are there because exchange/trade bubbles only appear if you and the other player both have duplicates of items that are on eachother's wishlist. The letters/chairs are a common item that almost every single player has, so it makes the exchange bubble pop up even if you have nothing else on their wishlist. Once you see what items they have from your wishlist, you may be able to offer them something else that you have duplicates of that isn't on their wishlist. A lot of players have a designated spot for this on their profile feed and may even have another list of items that they are looking for listed out. There are more reasons why letters on wishlists are helpful, but that is the basic explanation.Say for example that Kitty has an item that Sam has on their wishlist, but Sam doesn't have anything on Kitty's. Because of this, they couldn't see each other's wishlist. However, if they both have letters or chairs wishlisted, then Sam can see Kitty's wishlist and they can potentially work out a gift trade!

Values Explained

The first thing to keep in mind when trading is that values are set and mostly agreed upon by the majority of the community. There are always exceptions, or people who value their own items differently.No matter how fair a trade is on paper, it may be declined.

Base Value = HBAll other values are relative to the value of a regular Happy Bag.HB = Event = 7D = PC
These bags are all the same value, so their rarities match
C = C
R = R = C+C
SR = SR = R+R
SC = 24/48HR = LB = CHB = 2xHB
These bags are all double value of Happy Bags, so 1 SC R would be worth 2 HB Rs or a HB SR
SC C = SC C = HB R
SC R = SC R = SC C+C = HB SR
SC SR = SC SR = SC R+R = HB SR+SR
Plush = Plush
Plushies are by far the easiest item to get, so the majority of players only trade plush for plush. The only exception is that XL plushies can be equal to a HB C.
There are some players that value all plush as HB C but always ask to ensure that they are aware of the common valuation before accepting a trade!
Other Valuations
- SSR and RR - SSR and RR items are bonus items that require certain additional objectives to be achieved in order to obtain the item. These may be received through special transformation (where items are exchanged for the bonus), shopping quests (where a certain amount of 7x purchases must be made), or another similar method. These items are valued based on the following guidelines:
For purchase bonuses & similar bonus types:
Common bonus item (CC): 1 HB SR
Rare bonus item (RR): 1-2 HB SR
Super Rare bonus item (SSR): 3-4 HB SR
(Some players value SSR as 2 HB SR, it's a good idea to just ask the dupe holder how they value them!)
For special transformation bonuses:The bonus item is equal to the amount of items that were required to exchange for it. For example, if an SSR bonus item required 3 SR items to exchange for it, it is worth 3 SR items.- Buyer Shop - Buyer shop items are fairly expensive to obtain duplicates of, and are often very hard to find in exchange, and are valued special because of this. It is up to the owner of the duplicate to determine value, but they are often considered SC value.- Walls - Yes, regular SR walls. These are often the hardest thing to get from events and bags, so they are often very valuable and some people will only trade them for other walls. There are a decent amount of players who will trade them for other SR though.- Flowers - In the opposite manner of walls, flowers are the easiest SR to get, so they are often treated as R value, or only traded for other flowers.

There are two forms of trade in the game: Exchange and Feed Trade.Trades can also be negotiated outside the game on other social media platforms, which we will cover at the bottom.

Exchange
This is the safest, and most common trade method in game. To partake, you add items to your wishlist and when you see someone with the trade bubble above their head, you select items to offer. The other player has 24 hours to accept or decline, and if it is accepted both players are charged 50 coins.
Seeing the bubble
Not everyone has a trade bubble, and that is because the only way to see it is if both players have dupes on each others' wishlists.
Letters and Chairs
Many players add the letters or chairs you get at the start in order to better see others' wishlists. This is not mandatory, and if you wish to be excluded, you can always hit the lock icon on your base items.
Letting Trades "Rot"
This is when someone neither accepts nor denies the trade and leaves it the full 24 hours until it expires. Some players do this in an effort to avoid accidentally accepting the trade, or experiencing any glitches where the trade is accepted by mistake.

Feed Trades
This method, while somewhat risky, is an excellent way to get your desired items faster.
Players will post either on the Item Board or in their own feed what they are looking for, and then other players reply with offers. If an offer is accepted, both players send the items as a gift to the other.The Pros:
This enables you to bypass the 14 day waiting period before items are available in exchange. It also allows you to negotiate trades impossible in exchange such as an SR for two Rs or something of that nature.
The Cons:
We mean cons literally, unfortunately. Despite this supposedly being a lighthearted all ages game, there are scammers in it. These individuals will offer trades and then never send their portion, or only send part of what was agreed upon.
Avoiding Scammers
- Always trust your gut! Of course there are other ways, but that's the most important rule! If something feels off, back out.
- Only send first if the other person has multiple good trade reviews. If they have none or only have a few, take into account how old their feed is. If it's only a day or two, or even hours old, then that could possibly be a red flag
- Ask for screenshots! If you're using a platform such as Discord or Instagram, ask to be sent a couple screenshots proving they have multiple of the item available

Social Media Trades
Another great place to look for trades is on Social Media. These come with the same risk and reward as Feed Trades, but are discussed out of game.
RMT / Real Money Trading
RMT is when you give another player real money and they gift you the item in game. This is a massive violation of the games rules and it can get you banned. This activity is greatly discouraged.
